Academic Summer's Leisure Programme

The IB Diploma encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and community service work, thus fostering students' awareness and appreciation of life outside the academic arena. Academic Summer's programme includes and end-of-course talent show, trips and a charity event. The leisure programme incorporates aspects of the Creativity, Action and Service strand of the IB Diploma.

Whatever your age, Academic Summer offers a structured and balanced leisure programme designed for you. This includes sports, evening activities and weekend trips to complement the academic programme and to encourage social interaction in English.

At Sidcot School the programme includes trips to London and Oxford on Saturdays, and Bath and Bristol on Wednesdays as part of the academic programme. The trip to London will be on Saturday 14th July 2012. In Liverpool the programme includes trips to Alton Towers, Manchester, York and Blackpool as well as enjoying the city of Liverpool everyday.

On Sundays you will have a chance to relax and enjoy reading Sunday newspapers, have Sunday lunch, go for a walk or using Sidcot’s excellent sports facilities. You will also be able to enjoy places in the local area such as Weston-Super-Mare, Brean and Cheddar Gorge. In Liverpool you will get a chance to enjoy the city or go for a walk in the Lake District or North Wales.

Evening activities include sport activities, archery, bowling, shopping, charity event, international evenings, BBQs, parties, pool parties, horse-riding, trampolling and team building activities.

On Tuesday evenings we offer a programme of lectures, seminars and workshops. In Liverpool you will get a chance to visit Liverpool University which is adjacent to Liverpool College's campus.
