Be a leader - leisure fun with a difference

We want to give you an unforgettable summer bursting with fun, adventure and equipping you with skills that will stick with you for life. This is why Be a Leader is filled with unique and interesting trips, and fun-filled, challenging and thought provoking activities. We will show you England as you've never seen it before, as well as showing you the top tourist must sees.  

Every activity, trip, game and adventure will tie into your Be a Leader project so the final result will be inspired by your real life experience. Whether you are a natural born leader or someone that prefers to support the team in the background we will develop your skill set to help you reach your Personal Best. We work together to discover and develop your communication, negotiation, problem solving and presentation skills. We want you to be happy, confident iand undertaking tasks you never thought yourself capable of together in your pod group. The cherry on the cake - you will receive  an accredited CPD qualification to show the world your achievements.

London Sample Schedule


Our thought provoking tours, scavenger and treasure hunts will see us exploring and finding out little and well  known facts and secrets of London's top tourist destinations including: Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Trafalger Square, The Mall, National Gallery, Piccadilly Circus, House Guards Parade, Shakespeare's Globe, Tower of London and many more.  See London in a new light including a bird's eye view from somewhere like London Eye or the Shard. 
You'll have the chance to visit the city's most interesting museums - V and A, Natural History, IMW, Science.  All in one summer, who could ask for more! 
London is famous for its beautiful green spaces including Hyde Park, Green Park and St James Park. 
During the summer we will have fab, fun traditional English sports days in the best of them.  Let us show you this amazing city through our eyes.

Bristol Sample Schedule

If you come to our Bristol campus we will have full day trips every weekend plus on two afternoons per week. In the first session alone, we will explore the fascinating city of Bristol and see it through the eyes of a local, we’ll visit Clifton suspension bridge, and SS Great Britain, Avon Wildlife trust and Brandon Hill. We will make a trip to Cheddar Gorge where the famous cheese is produced. During Where the wild things are going to take you on great adventures where your physical skills will be pushed to the limit with caving and kayaking in the stunning Mendip Hills. And let's not forget the fantastic Slip n' Slide bonanza afternoon (see our photos from last year, is this something you want to miss?!).

Weekend full day trips

Our weekend excursions will take you to Oxford, Windsor, London, Birmingham, Norwich, Thorpe Park and Bath. Sundays are your chance to unwind, we will take you to the UK's less well known places  of natural beauty and interest including a day at British seaside, a hike in a national park, water sports on a lake, historical National Trust manor houses with sprawling manicured gardens and much more.    

In all our centres  we will have on campus challenges and games where you will compete within your pod for the ultimate result - Pod champions!  Push yourself to your comfortable limit in Challenge by Choice - an afternoon of fear or opportunity, learn to  cook to  perfection in Masterchef, try water balloon volley ball or create the perfect water balloon launcher in Ultimate Everything. Kick start your perfect university application by participating in our afternoon of volunteering - what can you do to make the world a better place?  Reach for the Stars will see you abseiling and challenging yourself on the high ropes (put a picture of high ropes). Brush up on your survival skills in bush craft, learn how to orienteer  and find out how we can protect our wildlife. We are convinced that you will leave Academic Summer with more skills, interests and knowledge that you thought possible to acquire in 2,4,6 or 8 weeks.  Are you as excited as we are?


Be a Leader is an exciting part of Academic Summer and complements our academic nature. Be a Leader gives you the opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a fun and academic environment. The 20-hour course is spread across the 2-week camp and you will cover vital skills required of a good team leader in small leadership pods with your camp counsellors. You will engage in team projects that link to the afternoon trips and activities. You have the opportunity to apply the skills you learn in a safe and stimulating environment before putting them to the test in your group project. At the end of the week you will present your project in our end of week celebration with your peers.  

While taking part in Be a Leader, you explore the ‘real’ England, as well as visiting some of the most popular tourist destinations. You will see the best parts of your location and gain first-hand experience of what it is like to live in the UK.
This unique Academic Summer camp gives you the opportunity to study a range of subjects in English, as well as enabling you to challenge yourself. Try something new and learn essential skills to shape your future and help you achieve your personal best.
