Academic Summer and CAS
The leisure programme incorporates aspects of the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) strand of the IB Diploma. You will be encouraged to learn new skills, work as a team, aim for your Personal Best and keep a diary about your experiences during the summer.
You will do most activities in your tutor groups. Your tutor group will be a mixed nationality group so you can learn to work together with people from different cultures to you. During the course there will be various tutor group competitions where you will work as a team to win points for your tutor group. There will be a winning tutor group each week.
- Creativity includes a wide range of arts activities. At Academic Summer you will be able to participate in digital media, textiles, drama, bracelet making, cooking, model making, art competitions, circus skills, quizzes and photography.
- Action includes participation in individual and team sports This summer we are offering the following sports football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, tennis, paintballing, archery, fencing, swimming, hiking, orienteering, canoeing, water zorbing, sports competition, driving, survival skills and absailing.
- Service encompasses community and social service activities. You could be involved in helping to organise fun charity events to raise money. In 2014 we had a fete, a sponsor me event and a bring & buy sale. For these events students worked as a team and they developed their leadership and organisational skills.
