Amber or Green we have it covered

May 26, 2021 by Helen Lami

We all wish clarity and certainty for this summer rather than remaining in a situation of wait and see what happens. We already have students committed to come to our camps, and we believe you will have confidence to book once you read our proposal. Whether you are a green or amber country you can book our camp in Bristol or London knowing, we have thought through every step to make it fun, exciting and safe experience full of learning, sports and activities for our students and an easy procedure for parents.

Summary:

- for amber countries:

  • - we offer to start in our center at Sidcot School near Bristol with beautiful large campus with fantastic sports facilities
  • - tests on day 2, 5 and 8 are arranged by us and included in the fees (with 24 hours return of the results)
  • - during the first week students will have face to face inspiring academic learning & leadership activities - accredited by CPD (over 28 hrs per week), sports and activities outdoors in small pods
  • - from Saturday students will join our normal programme. We will top up all trips, so students miss none (2 full day trips & 4 half day trips)
  • - after first week students can choose to stay in Sidcot or to move to London (transfer included in the fees)

- for green countries

We run our programes as normally. You will need to do a day 2 test after you arrive but you do not need to quarantine. We will organize the test for you and include it in the fees. You will be able to mix with other students, choose the subjects you want to study and participate in trips and activities off campus. This summer we are in:

  • - the UK in Sidcot School near Bristol - age  7-17 (3rd July - 28th August) & London - age 11/12-17 (24th July - 14th August)
  • Switzerland - age 9-17 (10th July - 7th August),
  • Germany - age 11-17 (10th July - 7th August),
  • @home - age 7-17 (from 5th July to 14th August)
Remember Switzerland and Germany may have different rules for travelling. Your country may well be with no travel restrictions for those countries. Contact us for an advice.

Therefore you can book a course with us whatever colour knowing your students will be learning, having fun, be active and kept entertained the whole day.

Full details for amber countries:

If you from an amber country we have integrated the quarantine within our camp at Sidcot School near Bristol. We will book the Covid tests required on days 2, 5 (test and release) and 8 and will manage this for you. Once you have a negative day 5 test you will be able to stop your quarantine. Please find here our Travelling to the UK guide.

Safety measures

You will be in a Leadership pod which will be put together according to who you travelled with and who you are living with in the boarding house. Each pod will be looked after by two camp counsellors. You will stay in your leadership pod during your stay at Academic Summer and during the quarantine period you won’t be able to mix with other pods. You will have face-to-face tuition, sports, exercise and activities outside as well as meeting students from other pods online. All this will happen in your leadership pod. You won’t be able to leave the Sidcot campus and will need to follow the quarantine guidelines in order to keep everyone safe. When you have your negative day 5 test you will be able to mix with other students on the camp and enjoy all the trips we have planned for you during the weekend and during your second week.

We will follow the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). Each day you will have 3 blocks of learning (75 minutes each). Contact us for the full curriculum for the first week.

Leadership

In addition to your learning, sports and activities, you will enjoy our accredited Be a Leader programme and cover two leadership skills each day the first week. At the end of the programme you will get an official certificate to confirm your newly gained qualification in leadership.

After the quarantine - second week

From your second week you will be able to choose the subjects that you want to study. You can either remain at Sidcot or move to our London campus. The choice is yours, transfers are included in the fees.

If before the summer your country turns green then we will automatically move you to the standard programme. You will need to do a day 2 test after you arrive (arranged by us and included in the fees) but you do not need to quarantine. You will be able to mix with other students, choose the subjects you want to study and participate in trips and activities off campus.
