Hannah, 14, UK - attended Academic Summer last year. Watch what she has to say about her stay:
This is a place where they can fulfil their academic dreams, build confidence with dynamic classes and form friendships that last a lifetime.
But don’t take our word for it – hear directly from those who’ve studied with us, below.
Manfredi, 14, from Italy is a big fan of the teachers at Academic Summer, and the way in which they make their subjects come alive for students. He also rates afternoon leisure activities such as egg and spoon races, volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
Phillipine, 12, from France credits Academic Summer for helping her to speak and write English to a higher standard. She particularly enjoyed crafting objects in Design Technology lessons. Her favourite trip was to the Black Country Museum, a museum that was anything but boring.
Coco, 9, from China has made friends from all over the world during her time at Academic Summer. She loves the “smiling, kind” teachers who made Maths her favourite subject with a series of fun games. The “yummy” food gets her seal of approval too.
Maeva, 12, from Mauritius has nothing but praise for the great lessons at Academic Summer. She enjoyed how they were taught via stimulating activities and exercises. She also had a brilliant time on day trips to Bristol and the Roman Baths, and made plenty of friends along the way.
Helen, 13, from China made many new friends during at her time at Academic Summer. Both her roommates and her classmates supported her in her studies. She embraced the many different activities offered at Sidcot school in Bristol, including basketball, and the opportunity to go swimming every night with friends. She also welcomed the day trips and the chance to visit England’s beautiful cities.
There’s little Elizabete, 15, from Latvia, doesn’t love about Academic Summer. She came here to improve her English skills, particularly in different subjects such as Business, Economics and Maths. She has really enjoyed the way Sciences are taught via experiments – a practical and “amazing” approach that she doesn’t have with her school back home. She’s savoured the opportunity to try new and unusual sports such as archery, paintballing and pistol shooting. She says the accommodation is great, with facilities for everyone.
Olympia, 15, from Italy hails the great organisation of Academic Summer, and she is also a fan of our supportive teachers.
"I was a little sceptical before coming to Academic Summer but as soon as I got here I was welcomed by an amazing staff that immediately made me feel like at home. This year I struggled with some of my classes, but thanks to Academic summer I am able to study and revise and better understand various subjects. Academic Summer offers students some amazing activities which help us bond together and build leadership skills as well as how to work in a team. I am extremely happy that I was able to come here and I am sure that this experience will help me through my entire career and that I will carry every memory of Sidcot school for the rest of my life. Academic Summer is a great place to meet new people, have fun and also study and improve at school and I highly recommend it to everyone."
"Hello, my name is Nikita and I am from Moscow, Russia. Here, in Academic Summer, I have found many friends from different countries. Although it was not very easy, I eventually improved my English skills and expanded the knowledge. But the most important what I have achieved is that I understood how the lessons are being taught and how students learn the subjects in England."
"Sidcot is a melting pot where you can meet lots of people from all over the world. If there was a place ideal to spend one’s summer holidays, I would without a doubt choose the cosmopolitan school of Academic Summer. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the teachers are very enthusiastic and self-assured. Furthermore, the activities are very interesting and everyone is having fun."
"Being a part of Academic Summer at Sidcot school was an experience like no other for me. The classes are interesting and the teachers are very well-trained and sociable. The trips were fun and exciting. The facilities are perfect, and every room here is clean and tidy. The food is remarkably well-made, and every meal is different and varied. The other students are from a lot of countries, which meant that you will be able to make friends from all over the world. The guest speakers are experts in their domains and their presentations provide excellent chance to learn more about the world. Overall, I would certainly recommend Academic Summer to any students looking for fun and learning 24 hours a day."
"Academic Summer school is a very good school and I really enjoyed it. The teachers are very friendly, and the activities are very good. I made a lot of friends here and I am very happy! If I have free time, maybe I will come here again!"
